Newhaven recorded a seventh consecutive league victory as they came from behind to beat Eastbourne United on Saturday afternoon.

The visitors took a 1-0 lead in at half-time thanks to a smart Wes Tate finish at the end of the first half.

But the Dockers fought back and were ahead after twelve second-half minutes. First Callum Connor finished off Ryan Walton’s pass, before the two (pictured above) combined again. Connor was fouled in the box and Walton scored the resulting penalty, the seventh straight game he has scored in.

The three points were confirmed when Connor notched his second of the day with less than five minutes to play.

Then, on Sunday, Newhaven U18s opened up a seven point gap at the top of Sussex County Youth League East Division as they beat Ringmer 7-1 at Fort Road.

Ben Earle got the young Dockers on their way, before Marcus Richmond tapped in from close range.

The match was delayed for an hour on the 26 minute mark when Ringmer’s Michael Parris was badly injured in a tackle.

When play resumed Newhaven struck two more first-half goals. Richmond scored a second before a fine Louis Coulson finish made it 4-0.

Ringmer enjoyed their best spell of the game at the start of the second half, and got one back through a George Baker header.

But the home side weren’t finished and found three more goals. Jack Goodale made it five before Richmond completed his hat-trick. Earle, after opening the scoring, finished off the goals to make it seven.
