Southwick 1-4 Newhaven
Newhaven remain four points clear at the top of Division Two after a comfortable 4-1 win at Southwick on Saturday. It was the second time this season that a draw against Steyning had been followed by a convincing win against the Wickers. Naim Rouane poked in from close range and Ebou Jallow headed in from a corner to give the Dockers a 2-0 lead. Charlie Miles reduced the deficit for the hosts before half-time. Lee Robinson finished one-on-one and Dave Altendorff volleyed in from a corner as Newhaven completed the double over Southwick. Full report here.
Newhaven Reserves 0-2 Shoreham Reserves
A goal in each half from Shoreham extended Newhaven Reserves’ losing run to three matches and leaves them 5th from bottom of Reserve Section East. Despite playing decent attacking football the Dockers could not convert chances at crucial times in the match and like last Saturday were caught on the counter attack, conceding two goals when the play should have been closed down quicker. Shoreham’s goals were scored by John Mulhern and Johnny Buggy. Full report here.
Crowborough Youth 1-2 Newhaven Youth
Newhaven Under 18s won back to back games for the first time this season after goals from Toby Cane and Max Stevens gave them a 2-1 victory at Crowborough. The points were hard earned against a physical opposition who Newhaven didn’t deal with in their previous encounter. They stood up to the challenge and were rewarded with all three points. Man of the Match award went to Daniel Green for a composed and strong performance at the heart of the defence. Full report here.
