Joint first team managers Sean Breach and Andy Cook having been busy in pre-season and are pleased to confirm more signings have been made ahead of the side’s first couple of friendlies on Saturday afternoon (15th July).
Two Newhaven XI teams will take to the field at the Trafalgar Ground where they will face Seaford Town, at 1pm, and then Montpellier Villa, at 4pm.
On the further players who have put pen to paper for the season, Breach said: “From last season’s squad Olly Davies, Elliott Wood, Ryan Knight and Kyle Woolven have all re-signed.
“This will be Olly’s fourth season with us and he is a very popular figure amongst the players. He had a very difficult season last year and missed three quarters of it through injury, but he is back, fully fit and he will be a key player this season.
“This is Els’ second season and he was instrumental towards the end of the season after a change in position. Knighty is a massive player for us and has been an ever present for the past five years, and Kyle, now 18, is getting better and better and he will be looking to be a regular in the side this season.
“Freddie Beale is now back from University and will be available full time for us. Along with Seb Saunders, who went travelling last year, they will be like new signings as they are both very important players and to have them available all through the season is massive for us.
“We also welcome back Scott Dartnall, who left us during last season. Scott was a key player in the 2015/16 season when we finished 3rd, won the RUR Charity Cup and were runners-up in the Peter Bentley Cup.
“Finally, Josh Carvalho has signed senior forms for the new season. Josh was a key player in last year’s successful Under-18s team and we have big hopes for him pushing for a first team spot in the near future.
“We are looking to announce at least four more signings in the next week and will have news of them when that happens.”
Entry prices for Saturday’s two friendlies are fixed at £2 throughout the afternoon, so you can see two games for the price of one.
