Newhaven’s three teams provided every result over the weekend as the first team drew, the reserves won and the youth team lost.
Steyning Town 3-3 Newhaven
The First Team were on their travels for the first time in over a month as they visited Steyning Town. Adam Burton and Dave Harris gave the hosts a 2-0 half-time lead and Phil Williamson made it three after the break. But the Dockers bounced back, and snatched a draw from the jaws of defeat, as Mark Probert, Dave Altendorff and Sean Breach scored a goal-a-piece to earn a point. Full report here.
Newhaven Reserves 2-0 East Preston Reserves
There was also some bouncebackability on show at Fort Road as the Reserves progressed in the Vernon Wentworth Cup. Having exited the Intermediate Cup the week before, they turned in a solid performance to see off East Preston Reserves 2-0. Barry Knight nodded the home side ahead in the first half before Damian Lambert doubled the lead in the second half. Full report here.
Newhaven Youth 2-4 Crowborough Athletic Youth
The Youth Team lost at Fort Road to Crowborough on Sunday, despite leading 2-1 at half-time. A George Collison header gave the hosts the lead but the visitors levelled soon after. Harry Millar notched his seventh of the season to restore the young Dockers’ advantage. However, three second-half goals, without reply, won the game for Crowborough, who had their linesman to thank for overruling a Newhaven penalty with the score at 2-1. Full report here (soon).
