Newhaven move up to 2nd in the league following another away win and clean sheet.
Newhaven took the lead in the first five minutes, Kyle Woolven’s in swinging corner was met by Ebou Jallow who made enough of a connection to force the ball over the line, 1-0.
Shoreham had an opportunity to level the game, a volley from the edge of the area was diverted by a Shoreham head and came back off the Newhaven bar.
Newhaven then broke down the right and Lee Robinson clipped the ball in behind the defence for Woolven to run onto, but the ball wouldn’t settle down and his shot across the keeper was saved.
While not at their most fluent, the Dockers were causing Shoreham problems, notably from set pieces.
Rhys Smith’s long throw and Woolven’s free kicks and corners led to a number of opportunities, firstly Jallow almost got his second but his header was well saved, then Matt Gunn headed back across goal for Seb Saunders to poke home, but an offside flag denied the Dockers a second goal.
The second half saw Newhaven up the tempo and start to control the game, Ian Robinson began finding room down the left and chances from open play became more frequent.
One such move led to the second goal, Ian Robinson’s cross found Lee Robinson who set the ball back to edge of the area for Saunders to drill the ball low into the bottom corner, 2-0.
Shoreham began to push forward more and Newhaven were grateful to the long legs of Matt Gunn on a couple of occasions when he cut out dangerous looking through balls.
The hosts did come close to scoring, but their goal bound header from a corner was cleared off the line by Olly Davies.
Newhaven then almost extended their lead from another corner, this time it was Gunn who went close but his far post volley was blocked on the line and hooked clear.
The Dockers made the game safe in style, Jallow found Woolven on the edge of the box who faked a shot before cleverly backheeling the ball into the path of Lee Robinson who fired across the keeper for 3-0.
The icing on the cake was applied in the final minute, Jallow’s long range strike came back off the bar and Lee Robinson reacted fastest to tap home his second and Newhaven’s fourth.
Overall, a professional controlled display and another clean sheet from the Dockers which sees them move above Chichester into second.
Next up for Newhaven is a home match against Saltdean on Saturday.
