Match Report

Southwick 3-0 Nehaven Reserves (HT 2-0)
Elliot Finney (30, 70), George Turrell (40)

Newhaven Reserves exited the Intermediate Cup in disappointing fashion with a tough 3-0 defeat at Southwick first team.

Newhaven started brightly and seemed comfortable, without truly testing the home goalkeeper. As the game edged towards the break, Paul O’Donnell took a knock which caused a reshuffle for the Newhaven side.

The injury occurred just before the break, some ten seconds to 45 minutes, but during the additional time that was played, the home side struck twice.

They added a third half way through the second half, but O’Donnell was joined in being taken off for injury by both Chris Geer and Ben Earle, and the game fizzled out. Newhaven had looked briefly threatening early on in the half, but all sting was taken out of the game by the third goal.

Newhaven: Marc Hildersley, Joe McTiffen, Nigel Mayo, Harrison Cullinane, Paul O’Donnell (Panos Markakis 45), Calum Burnett, Ian Robinson, Simon Blaxall, Chris Geer (Shaun Tait 52), Jordan Burstow, Ben Earle (Jake Power 71).
