Match Report

The Young Dockers travel to Hove to play Hove Park Colts.

Hove Park sit at the bottom of the league without a point to their name. And it turns out to be a very one-sided contest as Newhaven are far too good for their lowly opponents. They soon score in the first two minutes through Myles B-Vaughan, a second soon comes through Louis Bass then Aaron Winser scores twice – his second a brilliant flick from his left to his right foot and then a volley into the top corner. More goals follow through Eli Boss and Louis again and then Thomas Hughes. This is followed by Louis again for his first hat-trick for the club, just as the half-time whistle goes.

The Young Dockers are 8 up at half-time. The second half is much the same as the first half with one way traffic on the Hove Park goal. Eli scores twice to complete his hat-trick – his first for the club also – Hadleigh McQueen then gets in on the act, Joe Still then follows another from Thomas and to finish the scoring Bailey Down who gets his first for Newhaven with a good shot into the bottom corner. The rout is complete with Newhaven winning 14-nil.

The boys have played very well with some excellent passing and superb football but in truth Hove Park are a team that is struggling. But full credit to them as they keep going till the final whistle. Newhaven have a hard game to come this Sunday when they play Eastbourne, who haven’t lost a game so far this season, at Fort Road – this will test them far more.
