Wednesday night’s Sussex County Football League Division One match between Newhaven and Hassocks has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

It is the second time the fixture has been called off, after the postponement of the originally scheduled fixture, just before Christmas, for the same reason.

A 4pm inspection deemed the Fort Road surface unplayable after heavy rainfall on Tuesday night again left standing water in places.

Due to the high number of fixtures being postponed and rescheduled, this match will now not likely be played until March, when the Dockers next have a free midweek.

Newhaven are next in action on Saturday when they travel to Alderbrook Rec to take on Crowborough Athletic.
