Newhaven Football Club saw a win, a draw and a defeat for their three teams over the weekend.
Newhaven 5-2 Midhurst & Easebourne
All seven goals of this Division Two clash came in the first half as Newhaven put five past Midhurst. Richie Watton gave Newhaven the lead and Naim Rouane made it two with a well taken free-kick. Gary Norgate made it 2-1 but two goals from Lee Robinson extended Newhaven’s advantage. Luke Sheldrick got a Midhurst second but Ebou Jallow restored the three-goal advantage. Full report here.
Hailsham Town Reserves 1-0 Newhaven Reserves
Newhaven Reserves failed to score for the first time this season as they went down 1-0 at Hailsham Town. The only goal of the game came after 20 minutes. Full report here.
Seaford Town Youth 2-2 Newhaven Youth
The Under 18s were disappointed with just a point away at Seaford, but had to give credit to Seaford for their battling performance. Theo Baker gave the hosts a second half lead, but a superb free kick from Joss Slowey, making his first start, and a goal from William Herriott looked to have given the visitors three points. A nasty injury to home skipper Craig Pooley saw 15 minutes of injury time, and in the 103rd minute, Newhaven didn’t defend a corner and the points were shared. Jay Thornton took man of the match for an excellent display in the middle of the park. Full report here.
