Newhaven will travel to Division One side Crowborough Atheltic in the quarter-final of the Sussex Principal RUR Charity Cup.

The Dockers had already booked their place in the last eight, after a 1-0 home win against Lancing, and the Crows made it through last night with a 5-2 win at Storrington.

Newhaven’s progress in the competition has been a mixture of luck and, latterly, good football. They received a bye through Round 1 and then had to travel to Sidley United in Round 2. Newhaven lost that game 2-0 but were later reinstated in the cup after it emerged Sidley had fielded an ineligible player. A home tie against another Division One side, Lancing, was the reward. The Dockers fought hard and advanced with a 1-0 win.

Crowborough’s path has been a lot more straight forward. They also received a bye through the 1st Round before seeing off divisional rivals AFC Uckfield 6-2 at Crowborough Community Stadium, in the 2nd Round. This was followed by the 5-2 3rd Round win at Division Two Storrington.

This match is provisionally scheduled for Tuesday 29th January 2013 but a date will be confirmed nearer the time.
