Newhaven will play AFC Uckfield at Fort Road in the 2nd Round of the John O’Hara League Cup.
The draw was revealed on Twitter earlier today (Wednesday) and it sees two teams new to their divisions go head-to-head.
The Dockers were promoted for a second consecutive year last season, finishing runners-up to Littlehampton Town in Division Two, while AFC were going the other way having finished in a relegation spot in Division One.
In last season’s competition Newhaven were knocked out early on by Lancing, going down 2-0 at Fort Road in Round One, and Uckfield exited at the Third Round stage after losing 5-0 at home to semi-finalists Shoreham.
The winner of this match will then travel to one of Eastbourne United, Storrington or Bexhill United.
Newhaven also today learnt their Reserve Challenge Cup opponents. The Dockers will travel to Littlehampton Town in the 2nd Round and then the winner will be at home to either Worthing or Sidlesham in Round 3.
Newhaven Reserves have enjoyed this competition in recent years, reaching the Semi-Final and Quarter-Final in the last two seasons before losing to the same opponent on both occasions.
The dates for these ties are not yet confirmed.
