Newhaven will begin their 2017/18 Southern Combination Football League Premier Division campaign with a home match against last season’s RUR Cup final opponents Crawley Down Gatwick.
The two sides also met on the opening day of the 2016/17 season – where the Dockers won an entertaining game 4-2 at the Haven Centre – and will again kick things off to start the new season on Saturday 12th August.
The fixture list was released by the league on Friday morning and sees the Dockers at home in three of their opening five fixtures. The first time the Dockers will be on their travels is at Hassocks on Tuesday 15th August.
The much anticipated local derbies between Newhaven and Peacehaven have been removed from their usual Boxing Day/Easter Monday slots, and will now take place on Tuesday 26th September, at the Trafalgar Ground, and Saturday 3rd February, at the Sports Park.
The ‘holiday’ periods see the Dockers away at AFC Uckfield Town on Boxing Day, before hosting the return fixture at the Trafalgar Ground on Easter Monday 2nd April.
Other notable dates during the season see Newhaven host Eastbourne Town in the last game of 2017 on Saturday 30th December, before 2018 is kicked off with a trip to Littlehampton Town the following week.
Newhaven’s last home fixture will be against Worthing United on Saturday 21st April, before the season concludes with an away match at Horsham YMCA on Saturday 28th April.
A full list of fixtures is available here. As always, some fixtures will be subject to change.
Elsewhere, Newhaven U21s will begin their defence of the SCFL Under-21 East Division with a home fixture against Rottingdean Village on Thursday 31st August.
Under-21 fixtures are released on a month-by-month basis and will be added to the website as and when they are available.
