Following yesterday’s (16th March) update released by the Government regarding the ongoing global Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the FA and Sussex County FA have released the following statement:
“Following the Government’s announcement today, for people to avoid social contact and gatherings where possible, The FA are now advising that all grassroots football activity (matches, including friendlies, and training) in England is postponed for the foreseeable future.
“Throughout this period, The FA have taken Government advice with the priority being the health and wellbeing of all. The FA will continue to work closely with the grassroots game during this time.
“The FA are in regular communication with the Government and the situation within English football at all levels remains under regular review. Further updates will follow as needed.”
As a result of these developments, the Southern Combination Football League have suspended the current season until at least 4th April.
That means that all football at Newhaven Football Club, at all levels including youth, womens, and mens, is now suspended, including training sessions.
