Newhaven’s FA Carlsberg Vase first round replay at Cove was abandoned after 41 minutes last night.

The Dockers were leading 1-0, thanks to a Jayson Sowter header, when torrential rain fell so hard that referee Chris Wicks was forced to take the players off the pitch.

After a short delay Wicks went back out to examine the pitch and deemed it unfit to carry on and made the decision to abandon the match.

The teams will try again at Cove’s Oak Farm Stadium on Tuesday 29th October, 7.45pm kick off.
