The full draws for all Sussex FA County Cup competitions have been made and were released to clubs on Wednesday afternoon (15th August).
In the Sussex Principal RUR Charity Cup – a competition the Dockers have had recent success in – Newhaven will play host to Division One side Wick in the second round after both teams received byes through the first round.
The last time the two clubs met in the competition was in November 2016 when second half goals from Elliott Wood, Olly Davies and Kyle Woolven saw the Dockers to a 3-1 victory at the Trafalgar Ground.
Newhaven Ladies’ defence of the Sussex Women’s Challenge Trophy will begin with a long trip down to Pagham in round one, a place where they had their biggest scare of the whole of last year’s treble-winning unbeaten season.
Despite heavy wins in both league fixtures, Pagham took the Dockers to extra-time in their League Cup quarter-final meeting, before eventually succumbing to a 7-3 defeat.
The first ever Sussex Under-23s Challenge Cup will see Newhaven’s new-look side face a stern test against Horsham YMCA in round two, with both teams getting byes past round one.
Despite league successes in each of the three seasons as a side, Newhaven will hope the move from Under-21s to Under-23s will see them have more enjoyment in the cups, with only one semi-final to show over the three years.
Finally, the draw for the Sussex Bluefin Dennis Probee Youth Cup sees Newhaven Under-18s host divisional rivals Montpelier Villa in the first round.
The winner of the round one tie will then face a home fixture in the second round against either Eastbourne United or Lewes.
Dates and kick off times are to be confirmed for all fixtures but the full draws can be viewed on the Sussex FA website here.
